Baird Elementary held a Battle of the Books for the 5th Six Weeks. Students were challenged to have the highest AR points in their grade. Pictured here are first and second places for 1st through 5th grades. Congratulations to these fine students and great job to all the students that participated!

Site-Based Decision Committee Meeting - 4/8/24 at 10:30 am

Earlier this morning we sent out an invitation for a Site Based Decision Making Committee meeting at 10:30 am on Monday, April 8. This meeting is to begin working on our Campus Needs Assessment (CNA). The Elementary is a Title I campus, which means we receive federal grant funds based on the numbers of low-income students enrolled on the campus. The CNA is a requirement for this grant.

We do realize that 10:30 AM is not a good time for many of our parents to meet, but Monday is a teacher workday and we scheduled the meeting primarily to get feedback from our teachers. When we hold such a meeting, we are required to invite parents, community members, and local business leaders. If you are able to attend, we welcome you and your feedback, but if you are unable to attend, please be assured that there will be additional meetings later in the Spring where you can share your thoughts.

Father-Daughter Dance Tickets

Today is the last chance to purchase the Father-Daughter Dance tickets. Come by the elementary office before 3 PM. Tickets are $5. The dance is on Saturday from 6-8 PM.

Accelerated Reader Competition

Baird Elementary is having a "Battle of the Books" Competition for Accelerated Reader. Each grade level student will be competing against their own grade level and points are only during the 5th six weeks. All students in grades 1-5 are encouraged to participate. In addition to the individual competition, the class that has the highest percentage of students earning their individual goals for the 5th six weeks will earn a popcorn party and extra recess. Parents/guardians can assist their student in earning points by reading AR books with them at home. The competition begins on Tuesday, February 20th.
